Onit Dictate

Wispr Flow (and similar apps) offer good dictation, but the $144 annual fee for sending your audio to external servers pushes many users (like us) to look elsewhere. That’s why we created Onit Dictate, a free, local alternative for Mac (iOS coming soon!).

Both Wispr Flow and Onit Dictate share the same premise: fast, accurate voice-to-text with features beyond simple dictation that often makes mistakes. Onit delivers this through Smart Cleanup, our custom model that turns messy transcripts into ready‑to‑use text. Here’s what Smart Cleanup does:

• Removal of filler words — “uh” (from previous examples) → removed
• Formatting numbers — “three hundred forty six” → “346”
• Format Email addresses — “tim three three at example site dot org” → “tim33@examplesite.org”
• Correct punctuation — “hello exclamation mark” → “hello!”…
